Hyper-V from a VMware Admin’s Perspective – Virtual Machine and Service Templates
Hello once again everyone!
Today we’re going to be talking about virtual machine and service templates using Hyper-V Manager and SCVMM.
Ever been in a situation where you had to deploy the same machine, or something similar to that machine, several times? Most IT pros have run into this situation before, and we’ll continue to run into this need more and more as workloads become increasingly flexible and scalable.
Like VMware, Hyper-V provides the ability to create templates and clones of entire virtual machines. This allows us to re-deploy said VMs immediately or at a later date easily and efficiently.
Service Templates in SCVMM take this concept completely to the next level. The ability to deploy entire environments with the click of a button seems like a pipe dream, but SCVMM makes it possible, and with some ease I might add.
Technical Evangelist Keith Mayer and I will be covering both of these topics in depth, starting with basic templates in Hyper-V manager and moving on to service templates in SCVMM. We also included some other related goodness in between.
Hope you enjoy!
