Hyper-V from a VMware Admin’s Perspective – High Availabilty
We’re back with another Episode of Hyper-V from a VMware Admin’s Perspective. Today we’re going to be talking about High Availability.
As businesses grow, and start getting to the point to where they have 2 or 3 Hyper-V hosts it becomes prudent to utilize the in-the-box HA features that Hyper-V has to offer. Any business disruption from an unplanned hardware failure can be detrimental to productivity and can bring your organization to a dead stop. Dead stop = dollars lost. There isn’t any good way to spin that to management.
With Server 2012 and 2012 R2, failover clustering and live migrations are the mechanisms that can be configured to help prevent outages from unforeseen host issues.
In this video Keith and I cover the setup and configuration of a Hyper-V failover cluster and some of the considerations and planning that goes along with that. With these tools you’ll be better equipped to deal with the unknown by making your server infrastructure more resilient.
